PREDATOR

He walked inside the church house, his eyes were full of fire,

He did not seek the Lord today, a church girls’ his desire.

His every hair was perfect, his suit was ‘casket sharp.’

He had the bible in his hand to play the Christian part.

His cologne smelled so blissful, Obsession was its name,

All he had to do is find someone to play his game.

He sat up by the last pew, the choir began to sing,

He notice that the lead singer didn’t have a wedding ring.

The pastor preached his heart out, and soon service dismissed,

Announcer said, “Please greet someone with a hug and a kiss.”

He saw her and moved closer, his eyes a wicked stare,

The things he had in store for her was like a PREDATOR!

They hugged and then he told her, “Your solo was so sweet.”

She’s never had a man in life to sweep her off her feet.

He said, “I’d love to chat more, somewhere and be alone.”

She made the critical mistake, she took him to her home.

She talked about her last boyfriend, the pain was to the core,

He took in every word she said as he stretched on the floor.

She put a DVD in box as he began to speak,

“I’d never treat you like your ex.”  Her knees felt very weak.

He saw how she hung on each word as she stood very still,

He held her tightly in his arms, as he went for the kill.

He took her inside her bedroom, his eyes a wicked stare,

The things he had in store for her was like a PREDATOR!

GREAT IS YOUR REWARD

As a security guard in the greater St. Louis area, I tend to run across many types of personalities.  I’ve seen men dressed as women, from wig to makeup all the way down to skirt.  I’ve seen a guy pull up at a gas station with nothing on but a helmet, tennis shoes and swimming trunks………g string version.  You get the point.  But what St. Louis is full of is people who is not ashamed or afraid to beg you for money.

Now I do realize that we all get down on our luck at times.  Some stories are tear jerkers.  I was close to being one of those people at one time myself.  Not sure if I would have dropped all pride and ask strangers for cash, but that could have been me…..down on my luck, that is.  At White Castles, not far from Busch Stadium is where you’ll meet some of the most creative “askers” you’ll ever meet.  Some of the ways they ask is so creative, it will blow you away.   One guy ask me at around 7am if he could borrow 50 cents to use the pay phone.  Well, obviously no one has pay phones on the streets anymore with the emergence of cell phones.  So I told him he could use my cell phone.  His next response:  “Well, its long distance.”  I told him that I can call anywhere in the U.S. and its no charge.  Then he said, “I was calling my daughter and I didn’t want to wake her up this early.  I was gonna call later.”  I told him, “You don’t want to make a call then” and walked into White Castles.  The point I am making is for every 10 scammers out there, someone will approach who really needs help.

Jesus said in many instances, GREAT IS YOUR REWARD.  I tend to wonder what would happen if I would put aside my premonitions about “which is the scam” and simply just give a dollar or two?  Jesus said “Give and it SHALL be given unto you…”  Why couldn’t I just give the guy a measly 50 cents for whatever reason he ask and just been done with it?  So much I know, yet so much I have to learn.

A woman in St. Louis was at a bus stop as I was passing by.  Her son, who appeared to be about 7 yrs of age said, “Excuse me, would you like to donate towards my rap career?”  His mother turned away as if she wasn’t paying attention.  I ask him, “Sure, but let me hear you rap.”  He started rapped a few verses and was about average, and ok.  I gave him a dollar bill and said, “Good Luck” and walked away.  If I could go back in time, what I would have done was this:  Listen to his rap, pulled out a $10 dollar bill and said, “You know what?  As smart as you are, you can make millions in college instead.  You can rap on the side too, but until then, focus on that education.”

I think about Heaven a lot and what awaits us all when the heart stops beating.  I want to be right, whole and acceptable in God’s eyes.  If Jesus said GREAT IS YOUR REWARD, then I need to start doing what He said were the requirements of the GREAT REWARD is.

To the beggar who ask for the mere 50 cents and I had to grill him instead of giving it to him, I apologize.  I hope to see you again.  I too make errors and want to be right in front of God and man.  Maybe then I can hear Jesus say to Larry Nelson…..GREAT IS YOUR REWARD!

Until next time bloggers, facebook, twitter, and whoever else.

GUILTY AS CHARGED!

Recently, I thought about a well known mega church pastor out of the Atlanta area who was in the media for having sexual relations with 5 young men from his church.  He got in front of the camera and said, “I feel like David, I got my 5 rocks and I haven’t thrown one yet.”  A little time later, he settled out of court for untold millions to each of his accusers.  The church world was talking about it everywhere you went, myself included.  The many questions I had were:

If he is innocent, why settle out of court?  Why couldn’t he have been caught with a female secretary instead of 5 young boys?  Why is the church still supporting him after the fact?  Why don’t his wife divorce and just leave?  Why, why, why??????

Last night as I thought of this preacher and what he was allegedly guilty of, it was as if God put the mirror in my face and ask me:  “What about YOU?”

Immediately I began seeing how I, even though I’ve never been with a man, I am guilty of being with women………countless women.  How can I judge the mega preacher for public accusation when I have been guilty of not being able to control my hormones when alone with a beautiful woman?  Sure, most would call me “normal” in what I did, and definitely not against the law.  But in the eyes of God and as a Christian, I am GUILTY AS CHARGED!  I judged this pastor of “gross sin” with boys at his church (allegedly) when I cannot count on one hand how many times I’ve been to my church without dreaming of a certain woman who probably didn’t even know I exist.   The accusations say that the preacher was in bed with some of the boys in the past, and I’ve been in the bed with women too!  What’s the difference?  Sin is sin.

I can go on and on about my shortcomings and if my life were to end in this state, I’d be a great candidate for Hell’s fire.  But what I can say is I will never ever judge this pastor again for what I’ve heard about him.  I cannot throw the first stone because I have sin in my life (as with everyone else).

My job is to pray for him, the alleged victims and his wife and church.  He is my brother in Christ.  The same way I judge and react to his deeds, someone will react the same way to Larry’s deeds.

God, please forgive me for judging my brother.  May you blot out my sins, forgive me of my many shortcomings and create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.  I’ve blown it so many times that if repenting was a song, I’d have sung more than most humans on Earth.  I cannot judge any man but look in the mirror and see the flaws of he who stares back at me.  God, make me a better man and in the image of you.

Amen………

PLAN “X”

Some time ago, I came up with something that I believe if everyone on Earth would apply these 5 principles to their everyday lives, there would never be any lack in any area of your life.  What are these 5 principles?

1.  Spiritual

2.  Physical

3.  Attire

4.  Financial

5.  Personality

Ok, now how do I enact these 5 things into my life?  Lets start with spiritual.  In this area, you make it a point to read the bible, go to church and learn from the sermon, watch various sermons online of your pastor and other preachers who are all on one accord.  You continue to do this and build upon it.

Next is physical.  Whether its jogging, weight lifting or diet, you write it down in a journal daily and build upon it to make it better.  Example:  If you walked around the block for 3 weeks, try jogging halfway around the next 3 weeks.  Constantly improve.  Doctors read periodicals on health and medicine.  You can find info about these things on the internet and build on it.  Investing in multi vitamins is a good start.

Financial is one of my favorites.  You can find various business opportunities that you can incorporate in your life that can bring in financial resources outside of your work check.  For example:  You’re a great cook and everyone seems to love your pies.  Bake pies until you cannot bake any longer.  Discipline yourself to put $2 dollars every day in a piggy bank at your home and NEVER touch it.  There are hundreds of little things you can do in this area that will literally shock the average person.

I’ve just named a few things in my Plan X strategy, but one thing that you must have in doing any of these things is DISCIPLINE.  I do believe if these 5 things are incorporated in your life, you will not only see drastic changes for the better but your family, friends and the world will see it as well.

Until next time bloggers,

Larry
